What a wonderful week we’re having… Our very busy classroom continues to offer many activities that focus on our philosophy of learning through play. In addition to play dough and blocks and the housekeeping area and art at the easels (among other activities ), we are enjoying all the “round things” as our theme this month! The children made “dot” pictures in their journals with Miss Chelsea, paint-stamped with round fruits with Miss Sarina, read “Where Do Balloons Go?” and speculated what happens to balloons with Miss Delaney! The Readiness children are now “signing in” in the morning using their last names, and they continue to do chapter book reading with Miss Trish – the current selection is “Pippi Longstocking”. The children enjoyed an outdoor scavenger hunt – we’re hoping the warmer weather is here to stay!

March Tuition… is now (over) due! Thanks for your prompt payment.

Professional Development Day… We are closed for our annual Professional Development day, Wednesday, March 15th. Thanks for your support of our staff training time.

Outdoor Clothes.. The weather is becoming more variable- please send your children to school with appropriate clothes: they may need snowpants and boots one day and light jackets the next! Please remember we ALWAYS go out and the children are more comfortable playing in weather appropriate gear.

Tips from the Teachers…. “What did you do at school today? It’s often hard for young children to recall and describe what they did at school. Children are active and busy at school, but they sometimes lack the words or motivation to tell others about their day! Here are a few ideas to keep in mind when asking your child about his or her activities:
Avoid general questions like “What happened at school today?” , instead ask “what tools were on the writing table today?” Ask specific questions such as, “Can you sing a song from circle today?”, or “What friend did you sit next to at snack?” Sometimes telling your child a little something about your own day gets the ball rolling. Your child may get the idea of sharing news and feelings about his or he day.

Team Trivia Night… We’re looking forward to our fun fundraiser the 18th! Thanks to all who’ve bought tickets and contributed to raffle items. And thanks to intrepid Miss Patty and the Trivia Committee for many hours of planning and leg work to make this event happen!
Special Request: In addition to a fun night of Trivia and games and socializing, there are many terrific raffle items offered during the event. Here‘s one way you can help us: donate items for either the “Art and Craft” basket or the “Outdoor Fun” basket. A sign-up sheet for items for the baskets is posted in the cubby room. Thanks for your support!

Please join us for a Parent and Teacher Workshop, Thursday, March 23 from 6:30-8:30PM at our school.… We’re delighted to host Gail Feigenbaum, MEd, for an interactive workshop presentation:
Inspirations from Reggio Emilia
Gail has been an early childhood professional for over 30 years. She is the Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator at Northern Essex Community College. As part of her sabbatical in the spring of 2016, Gail traveled to Reggio Emilia, Italy and participated in the study-tour organized by Reggio Children.
In this workshop Gail will share some highlights from her visit to Reggio Emilia and offer participants opportunities to explore materials that reflect the Reggio approach to emergent curriculum for young children. Please RSVP by email or stop by the office and let us know you’ll join us.

Summer Program… We offer a wonderful 4 week summer enrichment program for current PW students. This year’s program will run from 7/17-8/10 M-TH. We’ll have more information available in the next few weeks.

Let it snow…We want to let you know about our NO SCHOOL POLICY: We follow Georgetown Public Schools in regard to snow days; check their status at Boston.com. If the public schools have a delayed opening school will open at PW at 9:00AM for all – no early drop off.

Keeping in touch…We are always available for your questions, concerns and joys! Please speak with any teacher, come into the office anytime, and send us email,
